End of one, Start of another!
Tuesday, August 8th, 2006It’s been a while!
Been kinda busy as you may have figured. I’ve gotten two issues of Spidey in the bag and looking forward to the third of four which consists my run. Good times, good times!
The big news is that FINALLY, I am done with the first volume of BLANK. It’s been some serious sweat and tears. Lots of mistakes and trying to fix my work process on the book. It was my first writing assignment and it’s been a doozy. I do apologize to all of the people who have waited for the book. I’ve fixed some things that may help to speed up the process for the next volume. I’m still trying to figure out how best to juggle BLANK and my American Comics gigs. Still a work in progress I have to admit.
It’s been a problem because I’m not a top name in the biz, so the gigs I get tend to get are mostly fill in work that require to bang out issues in a riduculous amount of time. Meaning, I usually have to put BLANK on the back burner when I get those jobs. I hate doing it, but those jobs pay my bills.
And I’ve gots lots of those!
Anyhow, it’s finally done! Yes, BLANK volume 1 is in the can after a record shattering close to two years of working on it.
I am in the rare position of having nothing to work on and I am loving every moment of it. I suspect the grind will continue later this week when the third script of MA Spiderman comes in. I’m still waiting to hear back from TP about this Volume of BLANK and any fixes that may come up. I’m sure all of that will happen all at once again. Hahaha, it’s been two years since I’ve gotten any kind of lag time where I have nothing to work on. No worries of deadlines and such. My brain has turned into mush and I am loving it. REALLY.
I suppose I will jump on the boards again and catch up on what I missed, but to be honest, I’m kind of not really wanting to jump into any comic related talks anytime soon… I think I will try to enjoy my “day off” in a way that has nothing to do with comics.
On a side note, I bought a set of Roland V-Drums. Been playing again. It feels REALLY good! It took all of two minutes to realize how sucky my drumming is. I haven’t played in 20 years and to be honest I wasn’t any good then either! Hahahah such is life! For now I’m still practicing my rudiments and busting out some off timed beats with my pal Alex the guitar guy. Good stuff!
Speaking of which, spent a small fortune on music gear this past month. My bro-in-law was here visiting, (which was the catalyst for buying the drums in the first place) and I decided to show him how to play guitar. (I suck at the guitar as well)
One thing led to another and I shortly found myself with a set of V-Drums, a brand spanking new bass guitar (for the wife to jam with us) and a new acoustic guitar. (Since the bro-in-law was taking my ‘lectric home with him)
Hmmm……. No wonder I have such huge bills…
UPDATE: Just got the script… about three hours after the post… So much for the day off!
Hahahaha Such is life… Back to the grind!
