blank

Ah yup. After a long hiatus of sorts, I finally resumed regular work on BLANK. That’s right. That book that was supposed to be done a LONG while back. WIth the book scheduled for release in a few months, there’s a preview you can chaeck out at TOKYOPOP.

So, how is it? I dunno… I hate the first chapter. (Which is the one being previewed) I keep telling my editor I’m going to rewrite and redraw it, but only if we have time.

I’ve learned a great deal since I drew this chapter last year. The journey has been long and filled with many pitfalls, so in that way, it’s a benchmark.

For BLANK, I draw on 8.5 X 11 paper… That’s right, typing paper. :) But I handled the first chapter like I was working on comic paper, meaning, I inked it not keeping in mind that it wouldn’t be shrunk 65%. The shrinkage is closer to 15% so all of the lines look REALLY clunky and pretty unappealing. The double page spreads were drawn on 11 X 17 paper, so the lines looked better, but even that is still clunky. :) Hahaha live and learn!

With the help of my editor at TP, I feel like my writing has improved a lot as well since then. Or more appropriately, he’s kicking my ass to write better. While it’s a little embarassing, it was only recently that we’ve decided on a direction for the book. At the beginning I was a little lost on what exactly it was that the book was about. I mean, I had a general idea, but I wasn’t sure on how to tell the story. So yeah, the first few chapters are extremely convoluted and disjointed. ;P

Whoops!

What I want to do with BLANK is tell a fun, entertaining story without too much thinking involved. Not sure if people will dig on that. :) BLANK will hopefully be stupid, superficial and pointless entertainment that you can waste a rainy afternoon on.

Hopefully. :)
Well let me know what you think. Check out the preview!

(Can you tell that I’m a little nervous about the book? Hahahah… um yeah… )

Whatevah! I’ll do what I wahnt!
