That’s both good and bad, know what I mean?
Good in that, not posting means I’m busy working. Bad, in that, I’ve been neglecting the site and both of you folks who still visit here.

So…. many things have gone down since my last offering of postage. Postage as in a site update, not the flat, one side-stickied piece of paper whose value seem to increase with each passing day. But that’s neither here or there so…

Since the last posting, I was the new artist of Blizzard and Wildstorm’s World of Warcraft: Horde! a brand new series promising to give you a better time than a jar of peanut butter and a hungry Pitbull. Yeah, baby. I was also throwing down lines to the cerebral LEGO series: Bionicle 2009, a rollicking good time the way ephedrine and punching bags are.
WoW:Horde comics have since been cancelled as comic series unfortunately sometimes do and Bionicle has also ended as well.

Say whaaaa? Yup. Hero Factory is the new game in town, true believers! Bionicle is sadly, no more. But it was fun while it lasted!

So what’s a one dimensional human such as I to do with all of the cancellations and endings?? Have I no other skills than what has been demonstrated by prehistoric cavemen (and wimmins) on cave walls of long ago? Has the recession really caught up with the Pop Mhans?

The recession, I think, has caught up to everyone and I hope and pray that you and yours are well and good. I can only hope that this recession will see an end soon!

I have had the good fortune to still be working and doing what I love to do. That’s right! You are now looking at the Pole Dancer of the ritzy new Shakey’s of Pensacola!
Ahhh, a man can dream, right? Nah, I’m actually still drawing stoopid comics. Steenky panels and whatnot. Gosh! Why can’t I just dance!? I can still close my eyes and dream… Half shirt, tied in a knot. My Daisy Dukes and work boots. Dancing. Shakin’… Yeah, baby, yeah!

Well, it’s been a hectic four or five months. We were in San Diego for three months then back in Virginia for two weeks and now we’re in Pensacola, FL. What a beautiful place Pensacola is! So, during all of the commotion and hubbub, I did manage to pump out two books that came out recently. Well four if you count Bionicle 2009 #6 and #7. You want the list? Sure! I’ll feed ya, baby birds.

So what am i currently working on? Well… part of my silence the past few months is because of the gag order I signed with Wildstorm so I can’t talk about any of the projects I’m working on with them. But I am allowed to say that I’m doing Ender’s Game stuff with Marvel.

Pick one. But they both mean that I’ve been given the privilege to work on this awesome series. Did I say awesome? I meant: ________ Yeah. Fill in the blank with your own earth shattering word. I don’t know. I don’t have one that’s awesomer than AWESOME.

Know what? I’m done. It’s late (as if you couldn’t tell from this “quality” post) it’s way past my bed time. Yeah, I know it’s only 11 pm. Whatever. I only have a grandpa body. My spirit, however, is full of the youth.

Sorry I’ve been away. I am not dead, only dead on the inside. I’m working on stuff I can’t talk about with Wildstorm. I am doing some Ender’s Game stuff with Marvel too. Have been moving around a lot but will post more often. Hahahah, yeah right.

Soooo, I tried my best to limit the amount of sketches I did this year at the Baltimore Con so that I can actually get up and walk around and stuff. Meet and greet editors, that kinda thing. I even bumped up the prices of sketches (albeit too slightly for my own good). And wouldn’t you know it, I didn’t have time to get up because my sketch list was still too long. I need to get faster with them things!
My sincererest apologies to my homeboy who sat waiting for me for an hour while I did lunch with industry peeps. Deepest apologies for all of the stares and questions you recieved as you sat a-waitin’, brother! They were just guarding my stuff and meant no ill will. However, I WILL hook you up! Promise!

Anyways, I did some portfolio reviews and some sketches and talked my own ear off. It was good times, good times. On an aside, one of the great artists whose portfolio I reviewed mentioned something that’s been nipping at me for a while now. “Why don’t I have an online art course?”

Well, I kind of did that through my forum thing that’s since been abandoned but what dude said did give me ideas. He also mentioned that I was able to teach him a bunch of concepts in ways that were more easily absorbed and understandable than a lot of the available online courses.

Then it occurred to me that what he was saying was TRUE. My LOWER intelligence made it easier for someone of HIGHER intellect to comprehend the concepts I spewed! EUREKA!

“So, dur…. You take dis pencil… and den, dur-ur… You draw dis line…. ”

So now I will scurry away to work on a line of online art courses! “The Idiot’s Guide to Art for Smart Peoples!” The idiot being me, of course… Stay Tuned!

For the art collectors: I will be doing sketches. However, I’ll only be doing about five this year. I have to make up to the people I owe sketches from last year first!

Hey, hey, hey!

Working on Thunderbolts #136 right now with another artist. I was originally going to do the whole issue but the deadline is super tight and well, since I ended up also wrapping up this issue of Bionicle at the same time due to scheduling changes, I had to give up at least half the book so Bionicle doesn’t suffer.

Anyways, check out Thunderbolts #136 when it comes out!

Oh, lastly, it looks set in stone… I’ll be doing something more with… WHO? Can’t say yet, but it’s something I just recently helped fill in on and now it looks like they will be giving me it’s own mini series. How cool? Pretty effin’ cool! More to come as I start on it and I’m given permission to speak more about it! Many thanks to all of the fans for speaking out and letting the powers that be know that they wanted to see more of my art on the series! THANK YOU!

As an artist, I evolve, applying influences I picked up or just experimenting with different ideas. Where I’m at with my art now makes it hard for me to continue The Seas the way it was. Or rather, I’d rather not. I view my art as a journey down a long, long road. Rather than retrace your steps, I always want to move forward regardless of where the path takes me. Heaven or Hell, I trudge forth without hesitation!

Aaaaah, sorry about the rant. Just explaining my ways to some of the people who question why I don’t still draw in a previous style or look. (I get it a lot) “Always look forward, never back!”
